Minister questioned over freezing weather conditions

Following the statement in the House of Commons this week from Transport Minister Sadiq Khan about the bad weather, Anne Milton has raised the issue of salt stocks, flooding risk and the long term damage to our roads.

Speaking in the House of Commons Anne reiterated a previous question about whether additional funds would be available to local authorities to help with repairs to roads now badly damaged during the bad weather. Anne went on to say - “What assessment the Department has made of the risk of flooding after the snow melts?”

Anne has also followed this up with a letter to the Minister and a Parliamentary Question following information that Surrey County Council despite increasing orders of salt following the bad weather last February, has seen their order of salt reduced by the ‘Salt Cell’ so that even priority roads have not been covered.
