Awards ceremony recognises our small shops

Members of Parliament have been asked to put forward a small shop in their patch for the award of Small Shop of the Year. Local MP, Anne Milton, has compiled the nominations made by local residents and Parish Councils.

Anne has received the following nominations:

Cranleigh Cards and Gifts
Hazelbank Country Stores, Ewhurst
Handymans Hardware, Cranleigh
Rickford Bakery, Worplesdon
Shackleford Village Shop and Post Office
Wonersh Village Stores

Anne said:  "I have been absolutely delighted with the suggestions put forward by local people and Parish Councillors.  We are so lucky to have a huge selection to choose from.  Local shops often provide services and products that people have asked for.  They give an invaluable service, are the friendly face of the local community and make an immeasurable contribution to the local area.  They also cut down travelling and can be a life line to those without transport."
