Conservative MPs Anne Milton (Guildford) and Jeremy Hunt (South West Surrey) experienced first hand knowledge of what it is like to work in the CHASE children’s hospice, Christopher’s on Friday – during Volunteers Week.
The MPs joined members of the CHASE care team during their morning’s work, getting young people out of bed and ready for the day, feeding them and attending to their medical needs. Several children that are cared for by CHASE were staying at Christopher’s on Friday.
Both Anne Milton and Jeremy Hunt said it had been a real privilege to meet the youngsters and members of the CHASE care team, as well as some of the many volunteers who support CHASE every day of the year both at the hospice and out in the community, as well as at CHASE Head Office at Loseley Park.
Anne commented, “Christopher’s would not work without its volunteers. They really are unsung heroes. They are also saving the state and statutory service huge sums of money.”
