Guildford LibDems' council housing fiasco

Boarded up council property in Guildford

Many residents will be familiar with the LibDems' disastrous £15m overspend on a £3m maintenance contract, costing residents across the borough.

This is only a part of the disastrous management of the borough's housing stock by the LibDems. Another disturbing failure is the number of council houses currently lying empty.

Nationally, the average time a council house is left empty between tenancies is 23 days.

In Guildford, they are empty for 350 days.

This is an appalling failure of those desperately waiting to be housed. And it also affects all Guildford residents through lost housing revenue.

Guildford deserves better.
