It has been a privilege to serve as the County Councillor for Cranleigh and Ewhurst for the last four years.
Looking forward, I think our High Street in Cranleigh needs further improvement, especially the pavements. I have obtained £200k for this. I would like to build on the work that I did previously in helping the creation of Fountain Square which has proved very popular.
In the next four years, I hope to bring these improvements to fruition and to take forward the Ewhurst Parish Council proposals for traffic calming and village enhancements. I have obtained £70k of funding for this scheme so far.
There is funding available for surface improvements to the Downs Link to make it better for walkers and cyclists. I am keen to develop a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan to help to reduce traffic on our High Street.
The County Council budget for 2021/2022 includes a higher level of funding for highways, which I know will be very welcome. In addition, I hope that organisations in Cranleigh and Ewhurst will take advantage of the £100m ‘Your Fund’ capital fund available for community projects over the next few years.
There is much to do, and I look forward to progressing these exciting projects. I hope that you will give me your support to enable me to do this on behalf of our community.
