Surrey County Councillor for Guildford South East (covering Christchurch and Holy Trinity)
Mark has been the County Councillor for Guildford South East since 2009. Mark is chairman of the Surrey County Council Guildford Local Committee and vice-Chairman of the Environment & Transport Select Committee, as well as looking after the interests of local residents at County Hall.
He first moved to Guildford 38 years ago, and now lives near the town centre, not far from the High Street. Mark is an architect, working locally and overseas before setting up his own practice nine years ago.
Working for Guildford South East
Guildford South East, bridging between the town centre and the North Downs, is an area with a distinct and special character created by the quite different sizes and types of property that make up the fabric of Holy Trinity and Christchurch wards. Mark is committed to preserving the feeling of this area as a place to live for its residents. Over the past four years as County Councillor for the area, Mark has tried to improve the physical environment and general quality-of-life for its residents by organising for roads and pavements to be resurfaced where he can, as well as listening to what residents want.
With the tough economic conditions that we are facing at the moment, more than ever, it is important that local voices direct what resources we have to properly reflect the aspirations and priorities of the community. All of the smaller areas and groups that go to make up the community in Guildford South East division have their own requirements, and it is only through proper engagement with residents that Surrey County Council can deliver the right services that local people need.
Mark is committed to:
1. Listening to what you want and promoting your views and priorities at County Hall.
2. Improving the standard of roads, pavements and the built environment in Guildford South East Division and throughout Surrey.
3. Finding ways to cut unnecessary costs of the County Council to deliver a better deal for you.
